He stood at the top of the hill looking down on the empty village. From up here things didn't look too bad. He suspected that the signs of ruin would become more apparent the closer he came. As he began to move slowly down the hill, he idly wondered whatever happened to his dog. He knew that his parents were detached, at best, when it came to his beloved pet. He wondered if they let him go, leaving him to fend for himself when the bombs began to fall.
