I stood outside the other night during the "blue norther".
The wind blew, fierce and cold on my face. I felt energized by it.
I imagined little dogs being blown around in the wind. There goes a little terrier, his collar and leash still attached. He goes up in the sky and around and around until he gets so dizzy.
When the wind lets up for a moment, he floats gently back down toward the ground. Right into the bewildered arms of a large mechanic with popeye like arms and a tattoo of a heart with the name "Esmarelda" over the top.
But he's a nice man, and he doesn't harm the dizzy and now frightened white terrier. He gives him a left over hotdog from the barbecue he is cleaning up from.
They had the barbecue in celebration of Michael's birthday. Michael is 25 now. Michael goes by the name SingleTexan25 on the Internet. Michael talks in monotone and when he looks at you, his eyes don't quite see you. It's as if you're speaking to him, but he is so busy thinking about what he's going to say next, he never actually hears what is being said at that moment. This habit of his makes for many misunderstandings.
The terrier barks at the tattoed man. The terrier ate the hot dog eagerly. He was hungry, and before the big wind blew up, he was just getting ready to settle down to a nice supper of beef chunks mixed with some left over rice and chicken from the other night. He especially liked the way his owner would heat up the food to make a little gravy.
