So, if I told you that buildings talk to me,
would you think me crazy?
I can see the empty ones, their dark eyes staring at me
imploring me.

I tried to visit the Nile one time. I wanted to stay where the heat
surrounded me. The heavy perfumes were like the scent of heaven to me.

But the snakes, man... the snakes were everywhere. And I missed the cornfields.

So I went back home. But my home had been replaced by a 50,000 house planned
community. The cows were gone, the fields were burned and the farmhouse razed by bulldozers.

I stood in the middle of that dirt plain. I saw where the farmhouse once stood. I saw the empty, not quite complete houses staring back at me.

New houses don't really know what to say. Theya re like newborn babes. They are so busy looking around them, taking in the landscape, the surroundings. In those planned communities though - those houses don't learn much.
